Trading a book for a shovel

by Independence Forever   Feb 13, 2007

Today I'm trading a book for a shovel
I'll have to wander out of my little hovel

instead of learning English, history, and math
i am in the cold elements, clearing a path

instead of learning about world wars
I'm working hard, despite back soars

not that i complain, math is not my forte
of course now i am a master of foray

snow, ice, it never stops falling down
it takes so long to get suited up, i have to frown

for in fort Wayne, a blizzard will fall
but i don't care, only a little snow after all

i serve a new mistress, no loner books and studies
because now the snow does fall, coat and shovel my buddies

an homage to today's work, hope you all enjoyed this poem. i had a lot of fun writing it but not so much fun living it
