Love At First Sight

I don't believe in love at first sight,
But do I believe in second chances?
With us, things just weren't right,
And we had plenty of knowing glances.

I thought that I was understood.
I trusted that time was what we needed.
Now, it's over, done for good
Fate and destiny are lost causes pleaded.

There just excuses and easy ways out
When relationships don't succeed.
Inventions for people filled with self-doubt
To say that person didn't fill their need.

It takes respect, hard-earned trust,
And a love deep within your own soul
To build up what failed for us
And keep the relationship in control.

Though I know this, and that love can work
I still find it hard to pull through.
I'm battling through all of this hurt
I forgot what I believed after you.

    oh my gosh.. definitly my favorite poem ... other than your poem living in reverse.. which i LOVE btw.. lol .. okay anyways... back to this poem.. the flow is fantastic as welll as the word choice... and altough the idea is a little cliche.. the poem turned out beautifully... the last line was incredible... great job.. REALLY great job :D
