Another Day at Work

by ben thompson   Mar 6, 2007

Behind a deceitful facade you think your well hidden.
But your eyes are filed with deception, we see your misgivings.

All the wealth is horded for those behind desks.
The ones who make the money are paid far less.

Kicked and beaten like a dog lying on the ground.
My reward? A meager paycheck that brings a frown.

So many hours we labor with lives on the line.
To receive minimum wage? Thats all we make at times.

But like a good little slave I respond to every call.
I am a low paid medic who receives no respect at all.

You supervisors call us liars, and believe everyone else.
Maybe if you actually worked you'd know the truth yourself.

But I'll pray for you and hope your conscious gets right.
Because surely you can't be sleeping at night.

Atleast you made me realize that i am not the only one who feels underpaid. This is something like reality at its best...what you wrote is so true but i guess this is how the show runs in life.

    Very nicely written.

all the best and take care

That was a really good poem. It kind of reminds me of my last job, which sucked like that.

    This was so amazing.
I'm not working, I'm only 17 but I can tell you that everything you wrote in that poem is hardcore reality. I can relate to that poem a bit because of how my parents refer to their work. The real world is a scary and somewhat unfair place.
    Beautiful poem. 5/5
