If You...

If a stranger was in pain
Is there anything you would do?
Would you simply walk away
Or try and help them through?

If you saw someone being bullied
Would you try and help?
Or would you just leave them be
Let them deal with the pain they've felt?

If you saw a dog being kicked
Would you shrug and turn away
Knowing if you'd intervened
You might have saved it's life that day?

If you saw a person being mugged
Would you just turn a blind eye?
Reassure yourself it's for the cops to handle
While that old lady stands there and cries?

If you saw someone on the streets
Would you even offer them some food?
Or think this isn't my problem
While that poor person broods?

Remember one day it could be you
Who's in desperate need of a helping hand
Want people to do what you did-walk away?
Or graciously help you stand?

So many people in pain
Yet to most it goes unheard
Why is helping them so unthinkable
Why does caring seem so absurd?
