Kissing in Twilight - Paradelle

by Gem   Mar 20, 2007

Two leaves are dancing in pale moonlight
Two leaves are dancing in pale moonlight
Gracefully twirling under the sparkling stars
Gracefully twirling under the sparkling stars
Two leaves are twirling in sparkling moonlight
Gracefully dancing under the pale stars

Two nightingales are about, singing a beautiful song
Two nightingales are about, singing a beautiful song
Watching the dance together, cooing with delight
Watching the dance together, cooing with delight
Two nightingales are watching together, cooing a song
Singing with delight about the beautiful dance

Two lovers walking beneath the scattered trees
Two lovers walking beneath the scattered trees
Kissing in the twilight as nature looks on
Kissing in the twilight as nature looks on
Two lovers kissing walking beneath the trees
As nature looks on in the scattered twilight

Two leaves are dancing in the sparkling twilight
Twirling beneath, under the beautiful trees
Two nightingales cooing about singing a song
As nature looks on in the moonlight with delight
Walking gracefully together watching the dance
Two lovers are kissing under pale scattered stars ©

"This is more of a word puzzle than any other poem and is a difficult format to master.
It is a repetition of lines with each stanza ending in two lines which use all the words in the previous lines.
Also the very last stanza uses ALL the words from all previous stanzas. Don't add any new ones and don't miss any out"

It's a sweet poem, but honestly, I grew impatient with the double lines...I think refrain is a powerful tool, but used too much and it removes the effect it can have and becomes a chore for the reader.
It's a brilliant idea though, and reading through certainly pays off at the last stanza...which is quite a cute stanza, actually...
Overall, a bittersweet poem for me...
