Chained Love

by *Charisma*   Apr 6, 2007

Man of mine, how you grasp my heart
Yet don't even know it, breaks me a part.
I love you more than sun loves spring,
But only trouble does this bring.

Friends we are, and friends we'll stay.
What I feel must be locked away.
You hold the hand of another girl.
Build her up, but crush my world.

I think of you and a smile comes
Then picture her, it's all undone.
Happiness visits from time to time.
Pain then claims the soul and mind.

Why can't you look beyond the jokes?
And past the smiles on which I choke?
I guess I hide my true feelings well.
Inside of me they'll forever dwell.

You were the answer to my prayers.
But what I want, we'll never share.
I must appreciate you as a friend.
Anything else has to come to an end.

I couldn't bear to ruin what we have built,
Or carry the burden, feel the guilt.
If she loves you as much as I do
Then who am I to trample through?

If it means I'll cry silent tears,
Knowing we will never leave here,
Then I shall swallow them down once more.
Let them dry upon sandy shores.

In the journal where my love reigns free
I can tell this heartbreaking story.
But only paper will know of my pain.
Even true love sometimes lives in chains.

Aww... i can really relate to this C.
true love is when you step back and put your heart aside for the one you love.. but always remember that true love prevails..

    A sad but beautiful poem.

I couldn't bear to ruin what we have built,
Or carry the burden, feel the guilt.
If she loves you as much as I do
Then who am I to trample through?

Sometimes we do trample because we follow our heart blindly.

This has to be my favourite of your's...I LOVE it!
''Then who am I to trample through?''
I adore that line, I found it to have great impact and meaning.
I thought in a couple of places the flow seemed a little off, but apart from that this was just beautiful!!
I loved the last stanza, it brought tears to my eyes, I think you did a fantastic job with this!!
