The Heartless

Of all the heartless men I've met, baby you were the worst;
You took my bruised and beaten heart, tore it to pieces, I curse:

For naive young girls, you must have an undeniable thirst,
You had me wrapped around your finger, tried to change me -

There's a standing ovation from your friends, so take a cowardly bow,

So for the last time, look into my eyes and see my rage brightly lit,
Like a moth to the flame Honey, you'll burn as you break me down,
And I'll whisper: "Out of all the mistakes I've made, you were my favorite."

And in my broken high heels I'll dance away from you in a wedding gown,

The Terzanelle is a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain.

[Hidden meaning - A boy she thought she was destined to be with does her wrong in so many different ways following the words of his friends so she walks away from him in the "wedding dress" which is actually just their relationship because they were supposedly destined to be with; may be confusing, I know.]
