Crash Course In Polite Conversation

"You need to learn how to treat a girl properly,"
Is what his old mama had always told him,
"Just like your Pa, you need to learn to treat a lady,"
She said with her hands on his shoulders -

And as she looked deep into her little boys eyes,
She said: "You need to hold her close you your heart,
Kiss her cheek and hold her hand, but never deny -
The love she feels for you, what she tells you is true.

Tell her she is beautiful and kiss her each night,
Count out the stars while laying on your back with her,
And for all the strength in you, do not start a fight -
If you see another pretty girl, look toward the one you're with -

Because my boy, I can tell you right here and now,
The pretty little strangers that you meet along the way,
They may be the cause of the sweat along your brow,
But they will never love you as much as the one in your arms.

It's not about being a super hero in her loving eyes,
The little things often mean more than anything else,
And if you do something wrong, you must never lie,
Because girls talk and it will get back to her somehow.

But boy, if there's one thing you must never forget,
It would be to never spend your time with a girl,
Having her fall head over heels in love and than regret -

With tears in her blue eyes she looked to her son,
Giving him a crash course in polite conversation,
Sighing she said: "If you love her, you must never run!"
And with her hands over her heart, she cried -

"You need to learn how to treat a girl properly,"
Is what his old mama had stood and told him,
"Just like your Pa, you need to learn to treat a lady,"
She said with her hands on his shoulders.
