Overrated [Glosa Verse]

Lines taken from the song Overrated;
Originally sung by Three Days Grace
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Worn out and faded,
The weakness starts to show,
They`ve created the generation,
That we know.

Tears fall from a young girls broken heart,
As she stumbles through her jagged dreams,
And the media laughs as they break her down;
`Cuz she knows she`ll never make, she won`t.
And her skin is flawless, her eyes are perfect;
But in the end, she was laughed at and degraded.
She`s got the face, but has the curse of curves,
And the drugs eat her alive, she`s tired and jaded -
"Worn out and faded."

The club scene`s getting a little old, but she`ll stay;
Because testosterone boys give her the attention,
And she dances the night away under the bright lights,
Just to wind up in a tabloid the very next day.
"Troubled teens are at it again," a headline she dreads;
Because what she does is something they all know,
The cameras follow her around, making up stories;
Of a girl who "has it made", but is losing it all;
And the drugs take their toll as she let`s it all go -
"The weakness starts to show."

Fashion magazines line her wall as she pretends,
She might just make it there, maybe for a day;
But they`ll never hire a girl like her, no no;
She`s blown away every chance she could have got.
And she knows that in the back of their minds,
They`re all muttering that she`s an abomination;
Her act is a little overrated, enough to disgust.
But if every flaw of hers wasn`t broadcasted world wide,
Then maybe she`d get a little more admiration;
They`ve created the generation.

The fake smiles she uses aren`t good enough,
They`ll still find a way to rip her to pieces,
And she fears the day that she falls face first;
Off the pedestal she once gladly stood upon.
"She was such a good little kid, what happened?"
They whisper, looking her from head to toe;
And she holds her pretty little head high,
Because she knows that they`re just name-dropping,
But the affects of paparazzi starts to show -
That we know.

Glosa-Verse: A Spanish form invented by court poets in the 14th and 15th centuries. An opening quatrain, called a 'cabeza' is chosen from another poet, or song. The glosa elaborates or 'glosses' on the quatrain with four ten line stanzas, their concluding lines taken consecutively from the quatrain and their sixth and ninth lines rhyming with the borrowed tenth.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The quotes at the end of the first two stanzas represent parts of articles from the tabloids of this girl.
