The Middle of Everything

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Sep 20, 2007

Stiletto heels click across hardwood floor,
Marking the place where teardrops fall,
And I`m begging you for just a little more,
As I tear the memories off of the wall.

Your half-hearted smile gives me hope,
So I hang on with all that`s left in me,
But you hang me ten feet high on this rope;
Letting me dangle to build your integrity.

The stars caress our secrets and lies,
Dancing in anguish into the deep black;
And there`s fear set into your blue eyes,
As it rips the spine out from your back.

Sober words never meant much to you,
And my vulnerability served me well,
In the middle of everything, it saw you through;
And tore me out from under your spell.

You got the charm, you got the looks,
But Baby, you don`t have the brain;
One drunken line is all that it took,
For you to lose all of your restrain.

In the middle of everything, you lost it all --
Screaming as you watched me walk away,
I tore your heart to pieces, watched you fall;
Choking on the words you couldn`t say.

    Bit of a vindictive tune, yeah?
    "But you hang me ten feet high on this rope;
    Letting me dangle to build your integrity."

    Hanging from the garden hose without a drop to drink. It reminds me of that in a sense. I really liked those lines. They were very over powering. And the last stanza deserved a little grin.

    Nicely done.
