A War Moment

by Misunderstood   Sep 29, 2007

I walk down the street
I found bodies by my feet

Staked next to each other so neat
Each wrapped in a white sheet

Mothers holding their children so tight
Telling them it will be alright

The prayers we now began to recite
On the dead bodies in our sight

Each of us began to weep
Seeing our families dead asleep

They are all put in one grave
Each of them fought so brave

Now they are covered with dirt
Then I became alert

I saw the damages all around
Houses fallen to the ground

The soil is soaked with blood
As if there was a flood

As I pass
I saw broken glass

Cars on fire
With dark smoke flying higher

The sound of planes filled the air
This gave everyone a scare

At the sky we began to stare
And to fight we were not prepare

Like little toys
Laid bodies of young girls and boys

They are picked up and taken away
In hospital fridges now they will stay

It was the end of the day
And the blue sky became gray

Clouds were gathering in the sky
Casting over us ready to cry

They will shower us with rain
But they can not wash away the pain

The darkness of the night will soon be gone
The sun will shine again at dawn

Tomorrow is another day to fight
From the morning until the night

People will die tomorrow
And it will be great sorrow

Each will be wrapped in a white sheet
Staked next to each other so neat

Everything will repeat
Until victory is complete

So we close our eyes and pray
That we will live for another day

To see ourselves free
And living through victory

Very nice poem. Look back for spelling errors though. Other than that this is your poem dude! It flows very well, and is a true description to the horrors of war. keep writting.
