I need to be free

For too long now
I have denied the essence of me

My soul has been kept in prison
longing to be set free

I must follow my inner voice
wherever it may lead me

I sang my song of freedom
locked inside a cage of gold

Denied of a full existence
and all of the splendor it could hold

I am a poet and a painter
this is the real me

I am sorry for the ones I leave behind
This is my destiny.....I need to be free

    Very touching poem ingrid , indeed, but how can you set a sould free and how can you put it in a cage,
    today is the first day i have been set free again after 7 years my sould have been nin prison
    and your poems jsut explain a lot ot me
