Somebody Bigger Than You and I.

by Teria   Dec 18, 2007

Sometimes it's as if you're not here,
though you're truly not -
As if images exist only in my mind,
and settle their forever.
Like pictures in a picture frame,
permanent for good.

Time will tell the pain you've felt,
to finally leave you be.
Watch it come back to haunt
this selfish little me.
With coldness attaching my feet
upon the warmth of the ground.

Yet, confining me from comfort -
frost bites got me now.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
like the ones I use to have" -
but, you see my darling lover-boy,
it's not like it use to be.
with widows all about this town,
dying everyday. . .

I see it in your eyes.
you'll ponder over him this year.
It's a daily thing with you and I,
bonding at the waist;
But, there's always somebody
bigger than you and I -

Ready to rule our beings and doings,
fight us 'til we're raw.
Burn us in a fire pit -
and cut off our upper jaw.
To sing the songs we wish to sing,
so much better than we ever could:

You're watching me now and the pain I've felt, knowing
there will always be somebody bigger than you and I

The gloominess of this poem though it ends with a faithful line captivated me and tore my heart.

Such lines prove that we can convey through poetry what books can't tell with same effect.

however, if you work on rhyming a little bit, you gonna be marvellous.

    good luck
