When i Look Me In The Eyes

I stare deeply in his saddened eyes,
his sorrowful glance makes my soul cry.
I ponder the thought of how he feels inside,
i notice his fake smile, the sorrow he tries to hide.

However, his eyes tell the truth that he conseals,
i see right through that smile, pain is what he feels.
I am saddened for his as i gaze upon his eyes,
he seems so confused with the facial expression of "why?"

Why must hardship burden the strength of our hearts?
Why must he stumble blindly in the dark??
Although he plummets and falls,
i see he still has hope even when he feels so small.

His heart still so strong and bright,
his flame of hope still lights his darkest nights.
He smiles at me as i see the connection,
i turn away smiling, stepping from the mirror,
leaving behind my reflection.....

i walk away smiling....
