Rose and The Silk Flower

by Maple Tree   Jan 9, 2014

Hot pink, crumpled silk
adorns silver grey haywire,
atop the head of an "eighty some"
bachelorette.

Italian born, dancing naked in memories,
believing in true love
and becoming a rockette.

A star shall be born
as the big apple drops
upon her up and
coming Ninetieth birthday.

Cat scratching her way
through public busses
dragging the cane like
a leash, she is determined
to find fame, fortune
and the love of her life,

or -
until the day her silk flower wilts.

This sounds like the modern day fairy tale. A princess waiting to be discovered and will not stop. Liked the flow and the imagery this poem has..excellent and Congrats on the win!

Congrats Andrea!! This was such a joy to read as I could honestly feel your words come alive and envision this lady. It's beautiful to have that much life and can almost read as a lesson or inspiration for others to make each day the best it can be. Lovely symbolism of the silk flower too. Glad you shared this one!
