Should we hold the flame of our tongues-
where words burn holes within our lungs.
The cauldrons are bubbling up with steam
and soon will shatter all hopes and dreams.

Our brains are washed with black and white;
and eyes to frightened to close at night!
We don’t know truth from propaganda
But usually old words of shallow slander.

Children slain and bombs still built
the shame of humans who hold the guilt.
Lessons are not learned from bloody wars
just more agendas that hide behind doors.

Money breeds-power, and selfish greed;
for heads of states to plant more seeds.
to grow more strengths and fattening cats
the true cartels that wear the spats!

The tight rope-wains and is running thin
but broadens further to all that sin.
Our world is rocking forth and back
the largest eggshell will surely crack!

    This is a well written piece, highlighting the tension that is going on in this world. Like a 'cauldron' the heat and poison is being mixed. This can only end badly. The innocent will suffer for the pig headed few.

    I love the quatrains and affective use of meter which helps it read so well. To me, in my mind, this beat like a drum - a war drum, perhaps, being out imminent doom. God save our souls.

    Brilliant and profound Michael! You'd think by now we'd have it all worked out eh? It's all fab but the last two lines in particular leave a lasting impact ... this is so well done! :-) x

    Thank you Em for a wonderful analogy, and you are spot-on with it.

    The verse you are referring to is the last but one? This really states that 'money' brings power to the heads of all organisations (especially the governments) 'selfish greed' is wasting money on what they believe helps our world, but only helps them so to speak, and the last two lines- I am saying that the 'cartels' which are known as 'drug lords'- I feel resemble politics and governments as the biggest crooks and those cats just get 'fatter' and carry all the power! Hope that makes sense :)x
