Shadow Of Reality

by Kaylee   Mar 25, 2006

Kiss me with the
golden morning light.
It creeps down the
back of my neck.

Warm.

Though when I touch
the spot it hit,
I feel nothing but
the cold shadow of reality.

Forest swaying to the
beat of the evening.
Whispering secrets
between them.

Owning their words.

Needing something but
drawing on little dreams.
Reality setting in, cutting
oxygen to my goal.

Notebook lying on the ground.
Pages facing up.
The black ink pen
rolling between the sheets.
Wind tossing it from my
past to my present.

Everything written down
as I’ve seen it.
Known it.

Wake up.

Another night has gone
without me knowing
That I had even been
sleeping while waiting
for the sun to rise.

Glancing across my bedroom,
I see something glimmering.
Light bouncing off the frame
of the photograph I had taken.

She stood there at the edge
of the cliff wishing to fly.
But without anybody to support
her, she was forever falling.
