Her Pain Caused Too Much

by BeautifulDisaster   Oct 23, 2007

Drip drip,
Drip drip.

Goes the faucet,
Slowly leaking water.

Tick tock,
Tick tock.

Goes the clock,
Telling her the time.

Thump thump,
Thump thump.

Goes her heart,
Racing from the pain.

Thoughts run through her head,
Almost always about him.

She's not sure why,
But she wants him so bad.

She'd give almost anything,
Just to be his girl.

But he won't even take a second,
To glance her way.

Her heart races,
While she holds the blade.

She slices real deep,
Closing her eyes from the pain.

Then a few more slices,
Deeper each time.

The pain is almost unbearable now,
She puts the blade away.

Slowly making her way,
Out of her little corner.

She suddenly faints,
The pain is too much.

Her fragile heart,
Can take no more.

So drip drip.

Went the faucet,
Continuing to leak water.

And tick tock.

Went the clock,
Telling no one the time.

Finally thump thump

Went her heart,
That stopped from the pain.

    No doubt 5/5

the way you opened the poem
    water droplets
    clock time
and used them back at the end of the poem.

the spacing between lines made it more impressive.

Excellent imagery flowing through this one and the style herein simply enhanced the pain that flowed through this poem. The beginning and ending was very different and caprtured my attention from the start till the very end. Keep it up (the writing off course - not self-harm)! 5/5
