Different

by eehcuhhhz   May 5, 2008

Different is to be feared
In the world we're in today.
More tolerant than before,
Perhaps a lenient display.

We exterminate the different,
What goes against status quo.
Yet different comes all around,
From the heavens and below.

Our loving angels are monsters,
For they have wings and fly.
Yet we somehow overlook,
That angels, too, can cry.

For they were once mortal,
They will never reach perfection.
Its not the wises decision to love
Or to give out affection.

For to love is to be selfish,
To make-love is to sin.
No matter how you think about it,
Angels can never win.

Yet they choose to be different,
For they are monsters that fly.
Angels choose to be feared,
Yet they live in the sky.

Ok, I like the way you used angels in this poem which was cohesive with 'different' meaning the both are close. You chose a risky comparison and it worked. However that just be my view.

The lexis was pretty 'easy' but your style shows that your more about meaning which can be the hardest thing to do in a poem.

    Good job

Hmmm..the poem's meaning..it has a beautiful meaning.just amazingg.... I truely loved it! it felt like it came from the heart.

"For to love is to be selfish,
    To make-love is to sin.
No matter how you think about it,
    Angels can never win."

but do you truely believe that to love is to be selfish?..you also said "to love is not the wisest choice".. Why not?
I think not being a loving person is what makes ppl not accept others' differences. Love is all around you; your family which is the most important thing in life nd not everyone has a family, sometimes lucky enough to have true frnds to love, and smtimes lucky enough to find a true lover.

    P.S. Favourite parts:
    "Our loving angels are monsters,
For they have wings and fly.
    Yet we somehow overlook,
    That angels, too, can cry."

    "For they were once mortal,
    They will never reach perfection."

    "Yet different comes all around,
    From the heavens and below."

"For to love is to be selfish,
    To make-love is to sin.
No matter how you think about it,
    Angels can never win."
[I lovedd that stanza!! even though i dnt knw why you said to love is to be selfish though. But i still truely loved the meaning behind all the stanza]

"Yet they choose to be different,
For they are monsters that fly.
    Angels choose to be feared,
Yet they live in the sky".

Too many favourite parts i knw. But you can't blame me,the whole poem was just amazing! <3 ;d

First off, your word choice is amazing. It paints a picture in the readers mind that is just really vivid. I could also feel the raw emotion that's in this poem. You can feel the girls pain and sadness throughout. Nice work.
    5/5 from me.

Again I was captivated by your beginning stanza. You know how to lure readers in to to look more closely into your work and that is an amazing skill to have. The flow was just great like the one I read before and I really enjoyed reading what you had to say. Well done *5/5*
