Damaged Yet Fully Alive

by pookiengurgi   May 14, 2008

Everything they are has bled to nothing
Running, running, always running from something
Late nights, street fights, memories from the inner child
Story spoken, about the hands that tried to choke them
They'll scream their voice out
Not to be ashamed of all their nightmares
Fully alive, you'll never break them
Dangerous damaged, with the knowledge they can survive
They experienced the worst, now they've recovered
And fully alive-they remember how every bone was broken
Cover it up, makeup and plastic surgery
Deal with it through exercise or purging
You know it's there, they know it's real
Don't ever doubt what they'll always feel
The past behind has come alive
For them, each and every night
They work so hard to disappear
They work to help, they listen to hear
What everyone else is crying out for
Forgetting themselves
To fix what they can
Their tears repeat, again and again
They'll always be damaged, yet fully alive
