White Rose, Red Sails

by january friend   Aug 2, 2008

Something I do not understand
this white rose that sits in my hand
It falls slowly into the crashing waves below
The white spray from the sea hides my tears
but not the sorrow inside
Here I am
his lost bride
Looking out at the setting sun
the red sky sending splashes of color
across the water
Just like the day we met
you gave me this white rose with a promise,
'I will always love you,
neither death nor pain
will keep me from you'
You left on a great ship
my sailor in white
I saw your eyes illuminating a different world
of just you and I
This is where we said goodbye
I watched the ship set sail into the red setting sun
I've kept the white rose with me
I think of you
I was holding it when a man in black knocked at my door
'I'm sorry' he said
'We've received news the ship was attacked by pirates.
A ship with red sails'
He offered comfort, I could not receive
I can't live without my sailor in white
No joy not even pain, I feel nothing
just alone.
I watch the white rose float away
Looking to the red sky
but the sky is not alone
Red Sails
I watch the ship approach
and remember what the man in black said
Red Sails
I turn my back as tears fall down
I hear a familiar voice,
'I will always love you,
neither death nor pain
will keep me from you'
I turn and look into his eyes as he hands my the white rose
my sailor in white.

Well a long poem again. I think to improve this you should work on the structure of the poem. Also try to refrain from using a lot of I's in the poem coz it sometimes messes up the flow.

The white spray from the sea hides my tears, but
    no the sorrow inside.
    this stanza really demonstrates the
    pain which is felt inside.
