Vicarious

by Poet on the Piano   Nov 4, 2010

She posed like a crow
darkly vulnerable yet
defending her system
through silent movement.

her breaths were negative
a death-sentenced straight line
not respondent to the black
and blue echo, that merely was.

the exposed eyes of her scandal
wasted, thrown into the ocean
as artificial entertainment
charlatans would regurgitate.

a weak result from one star
sending her colors to rest
where admiralty was deserted,
on an island of myriad shame
that injected a depressant
to film her petty desires.

she bleached her skin
until it faded into a mirage
and walked the sand bare,
no emotion stirring within
except for her waistline hair
softly stifling deaf murder.

and the sun never remembered her presence,
driving a flood to heave upon the scent
a reminder of resistance.

A good longer read. I was taken in by the way once again by your imagery. I also liked the way this poem was in a more of telling a story then just describing something we feel or do, though it was doing that also. I also had to read the poem several times before I got the message of the poem and each time I read it I got a different message of what was happening and how you described everything.

"a weak result from one star
    sending her colors to rest
    where admiralty was deserted,
on an island of myriad shame
    that injected a depressant
    to film her petty desires."

This was my favorite stanza that I really enjoyed as I feel like I could almost relate to it(metaphorically) and also the descriptions and way you make the stanzas compelling is great too. A wonderful poem from start to finish. Great job and keep writing.
