Thoughts To Choke On

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 10, 2011

-

You said I cared for enough hearts
soon tears would be obsolete-
a mind, a whisper, that imparts
light to subtle silence.

Yet you didn't dance our last song
where were you in forest's delight?
After paving a field of stars
I grew too tired to leave strong.

Waiting, lingering at your grave
I carved messages into bits of wood,
with sadness your love forgave
the dying beat I swept away.

Now I weep crushed smiles
blackened by heaven's opening
until you recreate incarnate isles,
holding my head up to vow.
