Once Upon A Chance

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 12, 2012

Once upon
An existence
I left myself
to the night....
never looked beyond
what could be
the first touch
of sun
displaying
it's liquid laughter
between my
fingers.

Once upon
A memory
my mind was
a hypocrite,
teaching others
to love life
when instead I
was leaning
on the idea,
of going fading
into somewhere
unknown.

Once upon
My past
I was not in tune
with my soul,
and I barely knew
about the chance
to find out
everything's possible
if you believe.

Once upon
My present
I'm gradually growing,
in a good mood
I thought I could never
reach....
But here you have me
dancing coloring
a world that's
not so dark as I've
made it out to be.

Once upon
A chance,
and I've never been more glad
to know you're here every day.

    MaryAnne my dear,
    I loved this,

Each stanza flowed so well, so smooth and soulfull and the wording was beautiful,
plus I could relate to this so well which is always an added bonus.

I loved this stanza the most, I love how you say "leaning on the idea", as if you were sort of resting yourself there, halfway between giving up but still wanting to stay for you knew the chance was there.

    Really moving,
    such a strong inspirational piece

    Loved it :)

    Ugh, mary-anne
this is too beautiful for words..

Jeezus its so refreshing to read poems such as these, it almost seems like a song because of how easily it flows.
I like the pattern of "once upon"
at the beginning of each stanza,I love it..

this is just so positive and uplifting...
I also found the first stanza to be very deep.
    and I love the imaginary...

    ugh..
too many things to love here...
    so gorgeous.
