You werent there

by Faith Ann   May 13, 2012

Just the other day I saw this dad teaching his daughter to play basketball
Him helping her up as she falls
and then it all hit me...
I wish you were there for me to see

You werent ever there
I never had a daddy to take me to the fair
to brush my hair before I sleep
to hug before I leave

A daddy to teach me how to build
to be in my heart to help fill
you werent there to make me smile
to help me when I am in trouble or in deep denial

now i'll never have a dad to walk me down the aisle when that day comes
you never taught me the meaning of fun
I hope you know that it is never to late
to come in my life...to fill that empty space
