My Warrior

by Hannah Lizette   May 23, 2012

Please try not to worry,
you've conquered it once,
you can do it again.
Have a little faith,
you can beat this plague again.
You are my warrior,
strong as bulletproof glass,
fighting not to shatter.
You are a survivor,
ten years cancer free.
God please be with my daddy,
hold his hand,
and give him strength,
heal him quickly,
and ease his pain.
His body isn't suffering just yet,
but his mind is at wits end.
He doesn't know how to express,
how tired and depressed he is.
I wish I could snap my fingers,
and all his worries went astray.
But God if this is his fate,
I beg of you to not make him wait,
please let him enter your gate,
so he can be with mommy once more.

--A prayer for my father, he had kidney cancer and they removed his kidney and he has been cancer free for 10 years. Recently, he found a lump and is very worried, as am I. Doctor thought it might have been low testosterone levels, but came back negative... so he is going to have a test done to see if it is cancer next Friday. Just writing a little bit to relieve stress.

  • Oh dear! I hope all goes well with your dad.
We can all relate to the relieving stress part... Get it all out! Once its in the open you will feel stronger, as well as less worn down. Writing does help immensely.

All the best for your dad and you too!

Hannah this is completely sad but beautiful in the words you've used, like a prayer.

I really hope that your father is OK. I hope that it is nothing serious and whatever it is, he is cured! A poem that has really come from the heart
