Midnight Rendezvous

by Hannah Lizette   Aug 20, 2012

Whispering between a lover's fort,
tickle wars and parroting laughter,
coiling into each other's arms,
lips that we can't bare to part.

A groan slips through your teeth as I leave my love marks,
claiming my territory upon your neck.

Dawn is peeping through shadowed curtains,
a hint that our midnight rendezvous is soon to end.
Oh, how the hours pass like minutes,
however, our love has no time limit.

As you slather your calloused hands over my silky legs,
your gaze has never been more compelling
as an "I love you" slithers off your tongue
and slips right under the shield protecting my shivering heart.

The barrier around my heart ruptures
and I'm free.

I finally envisage that you won't judge my lasting foibles,
or my haunting yesteryears -
you understand...
and love me simply for being me.

I love midnight, I love rendezvous, I'd certainly die for midnight rendezvous lol!

You've got a really beautiful way with words, especially when it comes to love poems. They always pull me in and don't let go of me until it's over and by that time I feel so affectionate due to your poem and find myself reading it all over again. :)

The only thing that I did not like too well is the format, it does not seem as though you've got structure in this poem, but it's not as bad as it may sound.

Anyways, hope to read many many many more!! :)

    - first of all... really?????? how on earth did you come up with this line lol. I love it. This is so powerful and I think it just catches you so much!

    - This bit is so happy and perfect, it is the way it should be and so lovely to think of it happening. I thought it was a great ending line because I always said when the film "What Women Want" came out and everyone asked the question, my answer is " to be loved for who they are " I think the problems only start when people try to change others or change themselves for others, soI just adore this poem because it is about what I believe in!

    Great job :)
