The Reason

by SiLeNtLy ScReAmInG   Aug 22, 2012

This world is nothing more than an illusion,
One I could never seem to break through,
To stop time in its path and cross the distance,
That always seemed to keep me, from you.

It's too late, the clock's struck midnight,
I fought the devil at his own game, and lost,
The time has come for him to collect his due,
And I can't bare to face the terrible cost.

A lone soldier, out numbered and out gunned,
I struggled against the odds to hold my own,
Gave them tooth and nail until the very end,
And for my failed attempt, I must atone.

A lifetime spent nursing a broken heart,
Seeking answers that are nowhere to be found,
They say it was my own selfishness,
That put the one I love, six feet underground.

Tell me darling, do they speak the truth,
Is it my fault that everything went wrong,
The way you disappeared without a trace,
Am I the reason you've been gone so long?

I can feel every word that's written as I'm reading this. It kinda rang something inside me, but it's the past, yeah who cares. Nicely written, dear. Love it! c:

Excellent. The emotions here are well put up and the descriptions are awesome.
The questioning at the end seemed apt.
    Keep writing gal.
