The Book Of Pain

by CJ Maleney   Mar 16, 2017

Let go of everything,
All those painful things you think,
And then you take a Spider,
That has been dipped in ink.

Let it loose upon the paper.
Let it scuttle, to write your life
Feeding on your pain,
As the twisted words it writes

Let it try to write it all,
with those horrible spindly legs.
Never truly capturing anything
But you can't escape it's web.

Take a slug, and place it on your screen.
It leaves a trail that none can read,
But the thing that it does leave behind,
Makes you want to scream.

Let all the vile creatures of this earth,
Try to write your tale,
But you recoil and slam it closed
For you won't let them prevail.

The words that are written in that book
Are born of wound and hurt.
But the words are now unreadable,
The book of pain, locked shut

Craig, I liked this a lot. Our own personal.books have been written with the good, bad, and downright ugly. It has made us who we are and no matter what you try to rewrite it with its not going to change what has al ready been done. Hopefully we learn from our past pages and don't repeat the bad, flourish from the good, and pretty up the ugly, lol. Well done-

Craig, firstly I saw your comment and had to laugh because some people just get all the hidden metaphors and some people would rather have it in written in black and white or slapped across their face until they Sid to tally understand and me, well, I just go with the flow I either get it or I dont and interpret it anyway lol though it made me wonder who the clever person was that you'd say "nuff said" too and it made me curious anyhow......

Book of pain - Just reminded me of the book of life but I guess, peoples lives can be very painful.

1/ If only we could let go of everything thats been and gone, said and done right? Wouldn't life be so much better? But we can't unfortunately. The spider dipped in ink for some reason made me think that spider has been inked for life abit like us humans when we have a tattoo because it cannot be erased well, it can but at a cost.

2/ I like the imagery in this part of letting words scuttle along the paper writing your life story but feeding on the pain you feel and twisting your words as happens in real life too.

3/ For some reason I thought of a person with 'chicken legs' lol trying to make you fall in love with them thus trying to capture your love but never actually capturing it at all as they don't stay for long anyway probably way off the mark.

4/ Now this is interesting and the first thing that popped into my head was the 'slug' being an internet troll maybe not troll but someone who takes something that they shouldn't I.e. Your lover and you can't see the trail they leave because things are constantly deleted and tracks covered up, taking you off their scent so to speak but in the end you want to scream and shout because they have taken what you had, what you thought would never be taken. Maybe its just my over imagination coming to light lol.

5/ Slam that book dont let them in
because then they will not win!!! (sorry I had nothing else to say)

6/ I absolutely loved this part and it would be so good to shut that book of life, and of love wouldn't it?? Because then there'd be no more pain, no more heartache and no more broken promises, right?

Well, thats what I thought anyway lol.

From a creatures point of view all these insects and things
make you want to scream and run away for they are distorting your
world therefore making it more miserable.

I also feel that each stanza refers to a person in your life who in a way causing pain, distorting the view you have and there are some
who want to dictate and tell you what you should do and how. Or
they have their own picture of what and how you should be. These
episodes are best shut away because their words alone cause more
misery and hurt....take care keep penning

There are some massively intelligent people on here who will read this (or not as the case may be), they will read and and draw their own meaning from it. Some will be right others not. I know of one, despite my short time here who will grab it straight away.

I'll explain what it means at a later date . Unless a certain individual nails it, in which case I'll just say "Nuff said"
