Sinners gospel

by Ya----Na   Mar 25, 2018

Holding onto a lifetime of heartbreak
will never set you free,
but forgiving yourself might be a start.

As the sun slowly
rises on the washed up horizon,
I look into the distance;
wishing there was something I could do
to help the pain, I see so clearly
in every word you’ve ever written.

Sleeping with the devil is something
many of us have done,
and some of us aren’t even aware
we are doing it.

Your pillow case is filled with
the glass tears of your soul, and
your pain paints the abyss in
crimson red splatters;
neither bright enough to see firsthand,
but you can always feel and see them
if you’re actually looking.

Holding onto a lifetime of heartbreak will
never set you free,
but forgiving yourself for it all just
might be a start
as I see the inking of your words
start to tell the story of
a sinners gospel;

Someone who wants to be free,
but doesn’t quite know where to start.

That’s where the gospel part of it comes in
.
.
.
doesn’t it?

Written for me by our very dear pnq member, Beautiful tragedy.

    And a wonderful piece it is, worthy of the name it bears which was never going to be easy to live up to.

      Hi Ben,

      You mistake Sinners Gospel with me. Probably maybe, I assume, we have similarities in writing style? Or we have the same name? All credits to the person behind the handle Sinners Gospel for this beautiful piece.
