Crave

by Kitty Cat Lady   Apr 2, 2018

I can't put my finger on it ...
A need.
A taste? A sound? A thirst? A feeling?
It evades, distracts, unsettles
Unidentifiable and elusive
It won't name itself
The inner noise too loud to clarify

Quiet.

Unthink.

Incubate the craving.

What will satisfy?
Where is fulfillment?
Solve the riddle of yearning
It's at the tip of my tongue
Almost there ...

... then

Disappointment.
Despair.
Frustration.

It's the one thing I cannot have;

You.
.
.
.

To deny ourselves of what we crave most is perhaps the hardest ordeal of all? We are quite honestly obsessing over, said thing. We cannot easily distract ourselves, we are to all sense and purpose, self inflicting emotional and physical pain. Why?

Maybe, this 'thing' is bad for us? Maybe, this 'thing' is good for us, but something tells our sensible heads to not do this 'thing'

Argh - just pondering a craving is sending me man. Just give in! lol

Haha ... thanks Michael :-) My willpower is pants, but the worst craving is for the thing that you actually can't have even if you decide not to deny yourself? :-) x

What a brilliantly different sort of write from you, Kitty. The formatting is what stood out the most for me. (not to demean the content!).
Excellent, but I won't nominate as you have asked but just know that I would have!

    all the best as ever

I love this poem Kitty . Perfectly describes that feeling of desperately wanting something you cannot have which frustratingly only makes the craving worse.
    Take care x
