Lost and Found (sonnet)

by Kitty Cat Lady   Oct 5, 2018

The first time that you gave your heart  to me
I didn't know the precious things it held
The treasures that I was so blind to see
Were overlooked when shiny things compelled

I see you now so clearly in your prime
I wonder how on earth I missed it then
Did I become less blinkered over time
Allowing me to claim your love again

I'm scared to think I almost missed it twice
While fretting over what I'd have to lose
I love that you forced me to roll the dice
And realise you're the one I had to choose

I promise you this time I will take care
For you my heart is wide open to share

Love lost and found is not love lost at all. I love this piece. Elegant in it simplicity.
