Wish You Were Here

by Guilty By Design   Feb 27, 2019

Even though you’re gone
I feel your spirit still lingers
You were dealt the wrong hand
But you never pointed fingers.
If anything, I wish I had your faith
It held you together through the end
Always checking in, no matter how bad it got
You weren’t just family but my very best friend.
I miss our random Pokémon hunts
And your persistent calls, all 20 of them everyday
No one ever blew up my phone quite like you
Even when neither of us had much to say.
We made so many plans
Knowing time wasn’t on your side
“I’ll live through you even when I’m gone”
Well, I hope you enjoy the ride.
Thanks to you I’ll never be the same again
You made me see past all the pain
Made me believe there would be better days
Made me see the good when I was going insane.
Can’t quite make your last wish come true
But I carry you with me anywhere I go
Not around my neck, in my heart instead
Wish you were here, bro.

Those memories are a mixture of pain and joy. Cherish each and every one.

I really liked this great rhyming piece. Sad but inspiring sharing the loss of a friends who was here long enough to teach valuable life lessons. Friends in my experience do that. When I look back on my life I know that my life would be so much less rich without the lessons and experiences we have shared. Had to nominate it. Best wishes Milly x

Thank you. It’s about my brother who passed away from cancer last year. He would’ve turned 19 this month.
