My Little Ball of Fur, Jinx

by IdTakeABulletForYou   Feb 28, 2019

To know that it is nearing
despite loving you so
and having no control at all
...it's pain felt in my soul.

I see you as you struggle
and stumble on your steps;
your eyes just look so far away
and now you're eating less.

I know I need to save you.
I know I need to try.
I will the world, with all my heart,
to never let you die.

My will offers no comfort.
It's pain I can't endure
to know the anguish that you feel
my little ball of fur.

I cradle you this evening
as tears stream down my face,
and hope the words "I love you"
are so clear from my embrace.

Yet still, this heartache lingers
for what I cannot give:
to heal what ails you, cure the pain,
and ensure that you live.

I'm here bracing for impact
so solemn and aware
that I know just what is to come
yet still cannot prepare.

My eyes are streaming. This broke my heart. I have a little old dog and every day she is able to play and eat is a gift so I am completely with her on this. No matter how much you prepare the thought of a final goodbye is unbearable. Much love Milly x
