Nightmare

Snapped awake.

Don't know where I am
Unsure of who I am
No idea where I need to be
Or where I've been.

Everything racing.

Breathe!

For f#k sake breathe will you!

Shakes ones head.
Tries to remember the dream
But can't.

Lights a fag and calms a little
Checks watch.

2 am? Really!

Discards cigarette.

Breathe

Back to bed

Hopefully to dreams

And not another

Nightmare!

    Haven't we all had one of these " nightmars? " ( which are not nice at all !! ) You have expressed so clearly how they make us feel after havung one.

    FSNTASTIC poem.. That reminded me clearly what its like to have a nightmare!

    I like the short lines of this piece it adds to the momentum and the feel of panic. I think anyone who smokes who has ever woken up in the night after a nightmare could definitely relate. Milly x
