Wedding Song

by D.   Jul 22, 2019

When the sunlight
cuts the morning rain,
she lights a candle;
he speaks her name.

Of years and months
and hours spent,
one day encompassed
what that time has
meant;

when the sunlight
cuts the morning rain,
he lights a candle,
she speaks his name.

    I like the repetition of “ when the sunlight cuts the morning rain” and how the middle stanza summarizes what that one day encompassed. The poem is like a song. Lovely.

    I'll reciprocate your surprise, Daniel. Rhyme? I wanted to strum my old acoustic along with this one and start singing! Lovely work.

    All the best as ever

      Haha! I do rhyme from time to time but usually not words at the end of each line. ;) thanks Ben

    I like the vibe of this, it feels like there loyalty, almost like the two are holding hands. I love the repetition ( it’s not I know ) and how simple the poem is :)

      Thank you both. I wrote it for my mother and her husband's wedding. :)
