She and I

by Kate   Dec 21, 2019

She and I are not the same

I don’t have the courage to ask
And to her it is simply offered

Her work is praised in colored spotlight
While mine gets nothing but a sticker
Despite how much harder my task

They draw to her like moths to a flame
While I am the burnt out wick
Once their light but easily overshadowed

They prefer her attitude and sass
Over the loyalty and adoration I give
But I’ve learned to bite my tongue

She is number one, her reign supreme
And I am not even second best

She and I are not the same

This is piece is a lovely read, for sure. It really makes you question and think about why creativity is judged the way it is. Every one is unique, everyone has their own creative voice. Not all are the same - so why do we still hold each other to the other's standards?

A thought provoking write. Excellent work.

It is an unfortunate fact of life that there will always be others who think differently and who have different work ethics. Some people are loyal and work hard and don't necessarily have time to network and be popular others sale through life seemingly never doing their job properly and having lots of fun at work. However there is a personal pride to be had in knowing that all you have learnt and all that you have done and are has been earnt honerably without fakery and that is something that no one can take away from you and these are the skills that will help you get another job should you wish it in the future.
