Window

by Sunshine   Mar 31, 2020

What makes me feel so sad,
I do not know.
Is it how hours struggle to beat the day
or how the wind hustles around
birds as they flutter in their cage.
Is it how the sun runs away
from burdens of the night
Or how we lay in darkness
while the moon brags
as it sucks our fractured light.
Why does my heart ache so much?
Is it saddened by clouds and cold?
By the stranger's face
and his callous touch
by drunk calls
by lies it's been told.
I can hear the cracks
they sound wise and old.
Inside my brain
so much has chattered too
slit by over thinking
and lack of sleep.
And while pain runs so slow
it runs so damn deep.
I forget my eyes at the window
transfixed by the view
always still and always silent
this window is aching too.

Some lovely use of rhyme sprinkled throughout made this a real pleasure to read, Rania, despite the rather sad subject matter.

I hope you are well and keeping safe,
    Ben
