Usually on Saturdays

In an air-conditioned,
crowded mall,
I walk around and
take my time to
choose perfectly colored
tomatoes, lemons with
the brightest yellow, spinach
with the most succulent leaves,
broccoli with the largest
flower head, mangoes that
my lips can already
taste. I love to look around
and get lost in these lovely gifts
of nature. Then I stop
for a minute to
appreciate the bliss of
freshly baked bread that
smells like the early
morning air.

I pick my stuff and
get in line, listen to people
chitchatting, sticking to
their noisy kids. I smile
at the cashier's
"good afternoon", and
go back home, eager to
prepare a dinner full of colors
for my lover.

P.S. I really miss going to the grocery store. This quarantine is making me write ridiculous poetry.

I think it’s nice we get to read something a little different from you. And it’s not ridiculous, I miss that too :)

I liked the idea of taking time to browse although it's not something I tend to do now (only in my dreams haha) I hope one day soon I'll be able to experience the atmosphere you have created here once more and, I will definitely appreciate every moment of it! Nicely done.
