The unknown

by Dagmar Wilson   Apr 20, 2020

I am counting the leaves on a tree
birds are still singing,
the streets are empty.

This virus destroys
the world keeps fighting,
our lives forever have changed.

Isolation keeps me safe
depression is rising,
anxious to step outside.

Tears are running down my face
nations are mourning their losses,
our future remains unforeseen.

For sure, this year is going down in history. No matter how calm we try to stay, there is are moments of fear and depression that strikes once in a while.
I do agree very well expressed!

You write in ink of passion Miss Dagmar. We all face uncertainty, but certain is the 'now' of what is going on sadly.

    Hello Dagmar,

The straightforwardness of your poetry really hits home. 'Depression is rising', 'Tears are running down my face', so exemplifies the profound impact these dreadful days are having on our inner essence. I like this poem, very much so. Well done, indeed.

    Kind regards, Tony.
