And the rain keeps falling

by Dagmar Wilson   Jul 10, 2020

Look around
tell me what you see,
the streets are crowded with people.
Many colors are marching for peace.

My heart is sad
my eyes are crying,
my stomach is mourning pain and losses.
My feet are tired from walking.

This civil climate
kneeling, choking
buildings are on fire,
these pictures take me back in time.

Countries are banned
Immigrants get out,
meanwhile this pandemic is taking lives.
I keep dreaming of home.

Haters are on the rise
they were never gone,
one sadistic man brought racism back to life.
It's real.

And the rain keeps falling.

There's a lot of negativity in the world right now, lots of loss, sadness, death, racism, discrimination, uncertainty. This poem is heavy with all of those. Sending sunny intervals your way, Dagmar. :)

Such truth and heaviness in this. I feel in acknowledging this, instead of brushing things aside, though it causes sorrow and may take away our hope and faith in humanity... it's necessary. We see the world for what it is sometimes, and it's heart-breaking, and perhaps that's what we get for seeing what others close their eyes to in these times. I admire when people DO see the positives, as we all need something uplifting, but sometimes, one can't deny this darkness. It's not enough to witness someone doing good for another when we see humanity hurt each other so often. I share your sadness. It also shows the depth of your heart and emotions, how much empathy and compassion you have. We hurt when others are hurting and experiencing such ruthless injustices.

Sending love and support to you, Dagmar <3

The weight of truth behind this poem weighs so heavily in each person's heart and along with the virus it just too much to deal with. Instead of helping each other through this difficult time, it just kills all hope..

    Take care~
