kneading

by prasanna   Dec 31, 2020

after the monsoons
puddle the red earth into clay,
will you shape it into pottery
with smooth hands?

i only ask because
i’m curious of what you’ll do
if all my dams break and i flood?

will you take what you can and leave
for drier pastures, or will you inspect
for root damage and prune what you
must and kindle regrowth?

Adding this one to my favorites. Such lovely images with a very relatable message. Who can we truly depend on when the storms come?

Wow, I was going to read your poem above this one but then this opening grabbed me in.

I really like this poem and for me, it represents that part of us that wonder if we were to become broken, who would care enough to stay and try and put the pieces back together , and who would simply walk away and leave the mess.

Great work and lovely to read something from you again !!

Your seeming ability to pluck imagery from the air around you astonishes me, Mark. You have a soothing and effortless way with words, truly.

    All the best as ever/
