Grandpa’s Bedtime Story ( part 1 ) Epic Poem

by Everlasting   Apr 15, 2021

It’s time to go to bed my loving child
I know you fear the darkness in your room
So grab your teddy not too tight but mild
As you so slowly calm with it’s perfume
Then let me tell you all about this book
About the story that captured me, look

There once on planet Earth
The rising sun gave birth
To both the Day and Night
And blessed the Day with light
With sunshine rays, I heard

Meanwhile the Night unearth
A darkness so unheard
While waiting for her light
————————-There once

As day just basked in mirth
The Night felt hurt henceforth
She turned so cold alright
Her wrath became a fright
That many feared on Earth
————————There once

And thus, my loving child, I understand
Of why you are afraid at night some days
But please for now just tightly grab my hand
And stay in bed until you become amaze
I’ll tell you all I know about this tale
And all of the details that it entails

And so, as Night turned cold
And towns of young and old
Began to freeze to death
All grasping for a breath
They prayed and prayed ten fold

Some named her mood, I’m told
The frigid winter cold
While praying for some strength
————————————And so

In towns both young and old
All sang a song so bold
Yet lacking in some length
But rich with lots of depth
Thus here it is behold
———————————And so

“At night the lights are out of sights
The ponds are ice
With frozen mice
But stars above transform to knights
Approaching near
Each with a spear
To fight the dark till it retreats
With golden light
With spikes so bright
To keep the dark out of the streets”

That’s all the towns could hear
A gleam of hope so clear
While sang in song of hope
That’s how the folks then cope
They sang from ear to ear

All through the passing year
As Night came always near
Approaching through the globe
——————————That’s all

But then came forth a seer
Predicting chaos, fear
“Will darkness weaken? Nope
The Night will seal the globe
The Day will disappear
——————————That’s all”

And so, my loving child, as you can see
The Night will darken even the bright Day
And towns will miss the light that gave them glee
But now, it’s time to sleep and dream, okay?
Tomorrow I will tell you more of this
Now let me give to you a good night’s kiss.
