Frostbite

by Rania   Sep 26, 2020

I often forget you
in the sun,
summer overshadows you.

Prevailing in sombre days,
you are bits of autumn's nostalgia
and much
of winter's cold.

I feel you
in the heat of bonfire,
in the deep smell of burning leaves..

This poem gave me all sorts of feelings! It made me think of frostbite as reminds of depression and despair. When we are surrounded by hope, by the presence of the sun, we can be distracted and basking in the wonder of light and warmth, but it's still there, waiting for us. And even when we can bundle up and fight against it, there are times we can feel it despite preparing, and hoping it stays away.
