is it the madness of the
artist who is fueled by
a fire that burns hotter
than a dragon’s breath,

or is it the need to bleed
on a medium to show the
world that they are here,
that they are alive in
a world that can be
callous?

i think
i live squarely between
those extremes,
tucked under your palms
like a parrot under a
canopy of trees,

singing and dancing,
basking in your light.
