The writer sets up a very powerful feeling of gloom and sadness in the first two stanzas. They gripped me into the piece, and I could empathize with it. The third stanza solidified this thing of great value to the writer, and the last brought it to closure. A sad and wonderful piece, so much can be felt from it.

Quite saddening to read. Those first two lines linger in my mind. I had a specific person in mind when reading and it still weighs on my heart, especially when there can be such an ease in friendship, and slowly, or quickly, that changes. And it feels you're powerless to stop it. No matter if someone is fully to blame, if no one is, or if it was just a connection that grew weaker over time. Really felt this piece!
