NaPoWriMo Day 1

by Everlasting   Apr 3, 2022

at midnight,
i want to tip toe my way
into the kitchen
and loudly scream

“Where’s the ice cream?!!!”

with hands on head
pulling every hair strand
as if torturously massaging
my scalp

may be just may be

the ice cream will magically
appear on the freezer

but deep down

secretly wanting to hear
little feet running joyously
towards me

“Ice cream!!”

It is not about the ice cream it seems, is it? Looks like a flash back of a memory of perhaps a loss??!!! or something that must be sinister, unfortunately , reading earlier:

This was adorable! As an adult, the prospect of having ice cream in the house can be one of the MOST exciting things. In fact, I'm nearing the end of a carton I set aside of a chocolate honey nut ice cream. It's incredible. Such a cute poem :)
