Into the deep blue.

by Poet on the Piano   Oct 3, 2023

I wish you'd held on for me,
and waited out my tide.
Searched through all of my debris,
let hope and fear collide.

I wish your silence was less kind,
it made me trust you more.
Your open space calmed my mind,
a path on my seashore.

I wish your hope didn't transform,
when tossed against my rocks.
The victim of an early storm,
demolishing my docks.

I don't know how to keep afloat,
you said you'd never leave.
Faith in me you'd always quote,
Now faith is land I grieve.

I wish the sun didn't set on you,
and my hope in second chances.
If memories were more than blue,
I'd swim in your expanses.

It's rare to see you use rhymes in your writing, but I love this one.

Thank you! And yes, I wasn't even planning on rhyming at first, then I thought it'd be a neat challenge. But it's open for critique too if certain parts could flow better. I struggle with rhyming!
