The Striped Killer

by Robert   Oct 22, 2004

I lurk through the jungle, hunter for most cash to one,
I kill without regret, for I know it has to be done.
Painted by God, to grant me the cover for every day,
Stalking great and small so they will be my prey.
I am treasured to humans for my coat and power,
And when I confront them, without a gun they just cower.
My jaws can bring down any thing I set my mind to,
If not a gazelle, it could even be you.
Neither make any difference to my taste,
I just open my mouth and leave nothing to waist.
Quick, it will be you who will hardly feel any pain,
But know your loss of life, will not be in vain.
You will be the food to help myself survive, and my young to grow,
But in the jungle if you come close to me, I will see you as a foe.
Orange and black I will be what I am destined to be,
A killing machine that is always free.
My Legend is unsurpassed in villages and men alike,
I am the killer of men, and even a little tike.
Fear me, and respect me for what I truly can be,
A tiger, that is on the top of the food tree.

Food tree. :) You used the word tike, too.

Cool how you can capture an animal and make it dramatic...But that's true poetry, right?
