Struggles

by Heather M Craig   Nov 24, 2004

I'm a single teenage mom
struggling just to get by.
the baby's father left us
and I'm frusterated because this baby always cries.

I'm only eight years old
and I got bruises from head to knee,
everyone points and laughs
but the secret is my daddy beats me.

I'm sixteen and I mother my four brothers
while my crackwh**e deadbeat mom lies in bed
high off whatever she can get and drunk off her ass,
the food we eat depends on how many strangers she gives head.

I'm the "scary" girl at school who never talks
all dressed down in black.
my wrists are covered in crimson scars behind my sleeves
for all the happiness that i lack.

I'm thirteen years old with a secret deep within,
my uncle raped me one day when i was over at his house,
he'd promise he'd kill me if anyone ever found out
so i cry at night but keep quiet as a mouse.

I'm the boy no girl looks at
because I am way overweight,
they laugh, point, whisper, and stare.
to be wanted and loved is my fate.

God makes us all in an individual way
and bad things happen, yes, i know
but to smile and prove we can make it through the pain is what He wants
for the struggles, they help us grow.

Great job! Sometimes it's wonderful to be different...other times it hurts. But your right God made us in his own unique way, and no matter what horrors we go through, he will always be there to help. Awesome!
